A detox diet can provide you with several health benefits by purging toxins out of your body. Depending on the diet you choose, you could be cleansing in as little as a day to as long as three weeks.
When detoxifying, your tissues and cells release the toxins stored inside them. These poisonous ingredients can enter your bloodstream and overload your body with the toxic. When this happens, you may encounter a detox headache because of all the toxic ingredients that are surging through your body.
Aside from the toxins, you may also experience headaches from withdrawal symptoms. Several detox diets prohibit you from consuming coffee, which could lead to caffeine withdrawal if you are dependent on the beverage. Also, you may be drinking too much water during the detox period. Too much water in your body could dilute the blood and decrease the sodium levels in your body, which could trigger headaches.
However, if your headaches are persistent and you feel other symptoms, consult your physician immediately.
