If you’re into aromatherapy, you’ve probably heard of – if not actually used – holy basil and its effective relief for headaches and migraines. While most testimonies about holy basil (and all its forms) are true, chances are there are still very few people who know exactly how it works. So, how does holy basil provide relief for head pain?
Holy basil fights headaches and migraines by reducing the amount of cortisol (stress hormones) in the bloodstream. It is also an adaptogenic herb which helps restore balance and energy in the human body. Adaptogenic herbs have long been used in combatting stress-related health problems, and now headaches and migraines have been added to the list of medical conditions that benefit from the natural relief.
If you have pre-existing medical conditions, however, you will have to consult with your physician first before trying the herbal medicine as its properties may not go well with your condition.
