Morning headaches are associated with a bunch of other medical conditions where anxiety, depression, hypertension, and sleep apnea are the most common. We experience this headache in the morning because the body produces less of its natural painkillers, the endorphins and enkephalins, between 4 AM and 8 AM.
However, if you do not have a serious medical condition, then morning headaches are easier to avoid. Don’t let an early headache keep you down the whole day by considering these simple tips:
Improve your sleeping environment and adjust your position
To achieve a regular sleeping pattern, you have to correct your sleeping position and adjust your mattress and pillows accordingly so that you’ll be relaxed and comfortable. This lowers the risk of neck and shoulder pains and thus, lessens the chance of experiencing morning headaches.
Drink a lot of water
Dehydration can cause morning headaches. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to flush out toxins from your body.
Reduce caffeine intake
Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, and it could lead to a restless sleep. Moreover, caffeine also causes your body to lose fluids, which can cause dehydration. Both of these may result in a morning headache.
Reduce stress before going to bed
Stress is never healthy for your mind and body. It affects your sleeping posture and makes the muscles tense, and this can eventually cause a morning headache. So, before going to sleep, try to relax and free yourself from stress.
